Former Department of Transportation and Communications Secretary (DOTC) Manuel “Mar” Roxas III is the new Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary. Following the death of former SILG Jesse Robredo, the President, Benigno S. Aquino III appointed Sec. Roxas to the position vacated by Robredo. Initially several names have floated as posibble consideration to be the next DILG Chief. Vice President Jejomar Binay, Sen. Ping Lacson and Albay Governor Joey Salceda are among those who were considered to be Robredo’s successor. But just today Friday, August 31, 2012, President announced the appointment of Sec. Mar Roxas to the DILG.
In a ceremony inside the Basilica Minore del Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia, the President handed the medal and plaque to the wife of the late Secreatry, Atty. Lenie Robredo right after the requiem mass. The citiation was read by Department of Budget and Management Secretary Florencio Abad.

Weeks after getting the shortlist for the next Chief Justice from the JBC (Judicial and Bar Council), President Benigno Aquino III finally decided today on who will be the next chief magistrate of the land. And among the 8 shortlisted candidates, President Aquino appointed Supreme Court Associate Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno to be our next chief justice. She became the 24th Chief Justice of the Philippines following the impeachment and conviction of former Chief Justice Renato Corona.
The Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) released today its official list of board passers for the June 2012 Nursing Licensure Exam. From the 60,895 Nursing graduates who took the exam, 27,823 or 45.69% have passed. And among the passers, it was UST graduate Roxanne Trinity Dotingco Lim who topped the exam.

After getting the ire of online community for mauling an MMDA enforcer weeks ago, Robert Blair Carabuena went to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) office today to publicly apologized for what he did.
Carabuena was bombarded by different hate messages in social media for his in-appropriate behavior towards the MMDA enforcer Saturnino Fabros in a traffic incident last August 11. After that incident, no words were heard from him which caused many to speculate that he is hiding somewhere or planning to escape the charges filed against him. And that is the reason why he went to MMDA, to end those speculations and to apologize publicly to the whole MMDA especially Chairman Francis Tolentino and Mr. Fabros.
After finding the body of Captain Jessup Bahinting yesterday, his Nepalese co-pilot Kshitiz Chand’s dead body was also found today. Early this morning of Thursday August 23,2012, Costguard confirmed the recovery of the body of Chand.
Report says that a fishing boat discovered the floating body of the co-pilot near the area where the plane crashed last Saturday. The body was immediately brought to the shore for identification. It was the father of Chand who identified that the body was indeed his son’s.
