Malacañang declared August 20 as non-working holiday

In connection with the observance of EID’L FITR (Feast of Ramadhan) of the Muslim community, Malacañang has declared Monday August 20, 2012 as a regular non-working holiday through-out the country.

Under Procalamation No. 455. the holiday declaration is aimed to promote cultural understanding and integration among Muslim and non-Muslim Filipinos and for the whole nation to have the full opportunity of joining their Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr.

Employees who will render work on this day will be given 200% of their daily rate.

Meanwhile under Republic Act No. 9256, August 21 or the nearest Moday to it, is declared as a Special Non-Working Holiday in commemoration of the death anniversary of martyred Senator Benigno Aquino Jr.
