An annual event dubbed as an advocacy pageant and pageant with a cause, Miss Philippines Earth pageant chooses a girl who can be an Ambassador to environmental protection campaigns in the country, and be the Philippines’ representative to the Miss Earth Beauty Pageant.
Tonight, at the Mall of Asia Arena, hosted by former Miss Earth Karla Henry, former Miss Philippines Earth Sandra Seifert and former Miss Philippine Earth runner up Ginger Conejero, another lady was given the crown and the task to promote environmental awareness campaign for the country.
And from the 47 candidates, Miss Olongapo City Angelee delos Reyes emerged as the winner as she took home the Miss Philippines Earth crown. The 25 year-old Marketing Head who aims to “raise awareness on the potentials and challenges for water cooperation, promote solutions for nurturing such, its benefits to us, and what role we can play to be part of such great cause, we can encourage people to share not just knowledge but water itself, until such time that all of us knows how to manage our finite and fragile water, ensuring benefits for all” bested other ladies all over the country and other pinays from the Filipino communities abroad. In a rare event, 2 OPM icons Rico Blanco and Parokya ni Edgar’s Chito Miranda collaborated in one song to give OPM followers some delight and entertainment. The collaboration happened in Rico’s home and was made out of “trip”. Chito, in one of his tweets said, it was just an accidental recording when he went to Rico’s house and decided to record the song they want.
Although it was just a “trip-trip” session for the two, it resulted in a good music which gave the song a more fresh vibe. The 2 singers mashed-up 2 of their band’s hit songs, Rivermaya’s Panahon Na Naman and Parokya ni Edgar’s Harana.
The video was then uploaded by Rico on his RicoBlancoTV youtube channel which currently reaps praises and good feedbacks from its viewers. It was also well received in social media sites like Twitter and Facebook as netizens shared positive tweets and comments on the video.
Admittedly, I am big supporter of Rico Blanco and Parokya ni Edgar’s music and seeing them both in one video sharing their music is one reason to be grateful and be hopeful that OPM and Pinoy Pop Music is still so much alive. We just need to appreciate it more than foreign songs and those K-Pop phenomenons.

An irate Willie Revillame, came out and burst out in anger again on his new noontime show Wowowillie. He scolded his co-hosts Ethel Booba and Ate Gay after not getting their prize in one of their segments.
He called out the two co-hosts as someone who are not grateful for the help he has done for them. He even told them to be thankful because he was the person responsible for giving them their job. Revillame’s anger came after Booba and Ate Gay allegedly shouted and questioned him why they didn’t win.
This is not the first time that Willie showed arrogance on live national television. There were many instances that he berated and scolded his staffs on live TV from his previous shows. Maybe its just his way of getting attention or he’s just like that to his subordinates.
Ben Affleck’s “Argo” may have won the top Oscar for Best Picture (which is really expected as it already reaped plums from other pre-Oscar award giving bodies like the Golden Globe), but Ang Lee’s epic adventure film, Life of Pi gets the most awards.
