Pareho kaming estudyante ni Jazzie sa isang unibersidad sa Maynila, kaya tuwing uuwi kami sa Batangas, palagi ko siyang sinusundo sa inuupahan niyang boarding house sa Makati. Tuwing pupunta ako sa kanila ay buong lugod akong tinatanggap at pinapapasok ng kanyang mga pinsan. Kasama kasi niya ang mga pinsan niya sa boarding house. Madalas kong maabutan duon si Nerisa, ang makulit at kikay na pinsan ng aking girlfriend. Madalas kapag pumupunta at tumatambay ako sa kanila, lagi kaming tampulan ng tukso mula kay Nerisa. Lagi niyang tinatanong kung kelan daw kame magpapakasal at ginagantihan naman namen siya ng kelan naman siya magkaka-boyfriend.

Ganoon ang naging takbo ng relasyon namin ni Jazzie, palagi kaming magkasama o kung hindi man palagi ay madalas na kapiling namin ang isa’t-isa. Hilig din kasi namen ang gumala. Aspiring photographer kasi ako, kaya gusto namin puntahan yung mga lugar kung saan pede kami magpicture-picture. Syempre sayang naman yung DSLR ko kung hindi mapapakinabangan. Ayun kahit sa daan pa lang at nakasakay kami ng bus or jeep eh pinupicturan ko na yung mga tanawin na aming nadadaanan. Ito namang si Jazzie napakahilig magkolekta ng mga ticket ng bus. Halos lahat na yata ng mga bus na sinakyan namin sa Metro Manila or maging pauwi sa amin sa Batangas ay itinago nya. Minsan nga niloloko ko siya na dapat di na lang siya nag-aral at namasura nalang hehehe. Pero syempre hilig niya yun eh, dahil mahal ko siya hinahayaan ko na lang siya sa mga hilig niya.

Marami na rin kaming napuntahan na magkasama, at sa lahat nang mga biyahe na yun hindi pedeng hindi niya itatago yung mga ticket ng bus. Nagpunta na kame sa Luneta, sa Tagaytay, sa Antipolo, sa Quezon at yung isa sa pinakamemorable sa Baguio. Sa dami ng mga lugar na yun marami na ring kwento kaming naipon hindi lamang sa mga litrato na aming nakunan ngunit maging sa aming alaala. At ang hindi ko makakalimutan sa lahat ng biyahe namen ay nuong October 8, 2006.

Start na kasi ng sembreak nuon so pauwi na kame ng Batangas. Bago kame umuwi ay napagkasunduan namin na magsimba muna sa EDSA Shrine. Sinundo ko sya sa boarding house nung umaga na yun at pagdating ko sa kanila, si Nerisa ang nagbukas ng pinto.

“Gara mo ngayon pare ah, mukhang may date kayo ni Jazzie ah” bungad niya.

“Haha, ayus ba Nerisa. Pogi naman ako lagi ah, ikaw talaga. Simba kame ni Jazzie eh, asan na ba yang mahal ko”. Pagkadaka’y naupo na ako sa sofa at inilapag yung bag na dala ko.

“Andyan sa kwarto nagpapaganda pa,hintayin mo na lang.”

Pagkatapos magsalita ni Nerisa ay namataan ko na lumalabas na nang kwarto si Jazzie. Tumayo na rin ako para kunin yung bag na dala niya. Ako kasi pinagbibitbit niya ng kanyang bag pag umaalis kame. Pagkatapos nun ay umalis na kame at dumiretso sa simbahan. Pagkatapos ng misa, bumalik kame sa kanilang bahay upang kunin yung mga gamit namen para umuwi na sa Batangas. Pagkakuha namen ng aming mga gamit ay tumungo na kame sa bus terminal.

Pagdating namen sa terminal ay bumili muna kame ng makakain sa bus. Pareho kameng mahilig sa chichirya kaya isang malaking potato chips at 2 bote ng mineral water ang binili ko. Pagkatapos nuon ay sumakay na kame sa bus. Nakasanayan na namen na pagbumibiyahe kame ay ako ang nasa gawi ng bintana ngunit sa pagkakataong ito nagprisinta si Jazz na sya naman daw ang uupo duon. Mga ilang minuto pa rin ang itinagal ng bus sa terminal dahil pinupuno pa. Habang hinihintay namin na umalis ang bus nagkwentuhan muna kami. Nagumpisa kame sa makukulit na topic hanggang mauwi sa seryosong usapan. Kinuha niya sa akin yung camera tapos binuksan yung mga picture na kuha namen.

“Galing mo talaga kumuha ng picture JL, gumaganda ako” sambit ni Jazz habang tinitignan ang mga litrato at napapangiti

“Maganda ka naman talaga mahal ko hindi lang sa picture pati sa personal” ang sabi ko naman

“Ayus makabola naman to wagas” sabay tapik sa braso ko.

Sa mga sandaling yun ay umaandar na ang bus kaya’t isinara ni Jazz ang camera at inabot sa akin sabay sandal sa aking balikat. Bilang ganti inakbayan ko naman siya at hinalikan ang mababango niyang buhok. Kinuha ko at binuksan yung chip na binili namen at sinubuan ko Jazz. Habang kumakain kami biglang nagsalita si Jazz..

“JL salamat sa pagmamahal mo sa’kin ha. Sobra kong naapreciate yung mga ginagawa mo. Mahal na mahal din kita”

“Ano ka ba mahal, siyempre mahal din kita kaya ko ginagawa yun. Ano bang nangyayri sa’yo at bigla kang naging seryoso”

“Wala lang para maiba lang.hehehe” pagkasambit nito ay pinaabot ni Jazz ang tubig para uninom. Habang umiinom sila ng tubig dumating na ang kundoktor para bigyan sila ng tiket.

“2 Lipa po kuya” ang sabi ko sa kundoktor sabay abot ang 2 tiket ng bus. Iniaabot ko agad kay Jazz ang mga tiket dahil alam ko naman na kokolektahin niya iyun. Ngunit habang inaabot ko sa kanya ang mga tiket ay hinawakan nya ang aking braso..

“Ikaw na magtago niyan JL, madami naman na akong nakolekta eh. Sayo na yan. Itago mo at ingatan mo yan ha tulad nung mga itingo kong tiket”

Medyo nagtaka ako kung bakit hindi nya kinuha yung mga tiket pero naisip ko na lang baka nagsawa na sya sa pangongolekta, kaya nilagay ko na lang sa bag ko yung 2 tiket namen at pagkatapos namen magbayad sa kunduktor ay umidlip muna kami na magkayakap.

Naalimpungatan ako ng nasa STAR tollway na kame at sobrang lakas ng ulan. Tinignan ko ng bahagya si Jazz at tulog na tulog pa rin siya. Habang nakayakap ako sa kanya ay sumandal ulit ako para umidlip ulit. Ilang sandali pa isang malakas na kalabog at kalampag ang gumimbal sa akin. Pagkatapos ay bumaligtad at nagpaikot-ikot na yung bus na sinasakyan namin at nawalan na ako ng malay.

Nang magkamalay ako, rinig na rinig ko ang malalakas na mga ingay. Ngunit madilim ang paligid ko animo’y may nakatakip sa mga mata ko. Agad akong tumawag ng tulong at saktong may tao pala sa tabi ko. Lumapit sya sa akin at tinanong kung anong kelangan ko. Tinanong ko siya kung nasaan ako at bakit madilim. Nurse pala ang lumapit sa akin at sinabing nasa ospital ako. Dun daw kami dinala pagkatapos maaksidente ang aming bus. Agad kong hinanap si Jazz subalit wala naman siyang maisagot sa akin. Nagpaalam na aalis daw muna siya para magattend sa ibang pasyente.

Ilang segundo pagkatapos kong marinig na sumara ang pinto ay bigla naman itong bumukas.

“JL, JL anong nangyari sa inyo” sambit ng babae habang papalapit sa akin

“Ma, ikaw ba yan ma”

“Oo anak,andito kame ni Papa mo” sagot ni Mama habang umiiyak.

“JL nakausap na namen ng Mama mo yung doctor mo at sinabi niya na natamaan daw ng mga bubog yung mata mo kaya nabulag na daw ang mga ito” sabi ni Papa

Bago ko pa magsink-in sa akin ang sinabi ni Papa, hinanap ko muna si Jazz.

“Eh di Jazz Ma, Pa. asan si Jazz”

“Wala na si Jazz JL, nakausap namen kanina yung magulang nya, wala na si Jazz” sagot ni Papa

Bigla na lang tumulo ang luha sa mata ko. Gusto kong sumigaw ng malakas pero pinipigilan ko ang sarili ko at pinipilit na maging malakas. Ngunit hindi ko na rin kinaya, napahagulgol na ako at sa tagpong iyon, niyakap ako ni Mama at Papa.

Pagkalipas ng isang linggo at pinayagan na akong lumabas ng doctor. Agad akong nagtungo sa burol ni Jazz. Pagdating namen sa chapel agad akong sinalubong ng umiiyak na Nanay ni Jazz.

“JL wala na si Jazz, iniwan na tayo ni Jazz” sabay yakap sa akin.

Muling tumulo ang mga luha sa aking mata. Inakay ako ng nanay ni Jazz palapit sa kabaong nito. Hinawakan ko at hinaplos haplos ko ang kabaong niya at lalong nagtuloy-tuloy ang pagtulo ng aking luha. Habang nakatayo ako sa harap ng kabaong niya may lumapit sa akin at tumapik sa aking balikat. Si Nerisa pala na nagsabing nasasayangan daw siya kasi hindi na matutupad yung palagi naming biruan sa boarding house nila na aabay siya sa kasal namen.

Paglipas ng 40 araw ng pagkamatay ni Jazz, dinalaw ko ang kanyang puntod. Duon dala-dala ko yung ticket ng bus na pinatago niya sa’kin. Inilatag ko yun sa kanyang lapida tsaka ko siya kinausap.

“Ayan mahal ha, iningatan ko yung bus ticket na pinatago mo sa akin ah. Miss na miss na kita Jazz. Wala na kong makulit na kasama sa mga biyahe. Wala ng nangungurot sa hita at braso ko pag nagaasaran tayo. Pero alam kong masaya ka na dyan”

Pagkatapos nito ay dumiretso na kame sa ospital para sa operasyon ng aking mata. Meron na daw kasing nakuhang match ang mata ko sa eye bank. Pagdating sa ospital ay pinatungo na ako sa operation room para sa eye transplant. Makalipas ang ilang oras successful ang operation at maari na daw uli akong makakita at makabalik sa pag-aaral. Nang mailipat na ako sa hospital room kung saan ako magpapahinga bago umuwi, tinanong ko ang dotor kung pede malaman ang donor ng aking mata para naman mapasalamatan. Inabot ng doctor kay Mama ang donation card at sa pagbasa ni Mama..

“JL, JL” habang nanginginig ang boses at halatang naiiyak “Si Jazzie, si Jazzie”

“Bakit Ma, andito ba si Jazz? Minumulto ka ba niya?” pabiro kong tanong habang napapangisi pa ako

“Loko ka talagang bata ka, si Jazzie anak ang donor mo ‘nak.” sabay hawak sa kamay ko si Mama

Hindi ko alam kung ano ang magiging reaction ko nung oras na yun. Naluluha ako na natatawa, ngunit kasabay nun ay ang pananalangin at pasalamat sa Diyos at ang pagkausap ko kay Jazz sa aking isipan.

“Salamat mahal ko dahil sa’yo makakakita na ako muli. At simula ngayon hindi na ko mag-iisa sa mga biyahe kasi kasama na ulit kita parati.”

Pagkaraan ng isang taon ng pagbabalik ko sa pag-aaral ay nakagraduate ako. At ngayon ay nagtatrabaho na bilang isang freelance photographer. Sa pamamagitan ng mga mata ni Jazzie, binibigyan ko ng buhay ang mga kwento sa likod ng mga larawan na aking kinukunan.

It seemed that NBA fans is now up to a new sensation. This past weeks the basketball world is rocked by the raves for the LINSANITY phenomenon, as the Harvard graduate Jeremy Lin started to show strong force towards NBA stardom.

Leading his team New York Knicks to 6-straight wins, all scoring more than 20pts, (including his 38 points career high against L.A Lakers and outscoring Kobe Bryant’s 34 points on that game), Lin gave basketball fans a new hero on the rise.

Born as Jeremy Shu-How Lin in Los Angeles, California, he share the same birthday with Kobe Bryant on August 23 just 10 years later in 1988. His parents Gie-Ming & Shirley Lin were Taiwanese emmigrants in the US thus making Jeremy the first American NBA player of Taiwanese blood. He studied high school in Palo Alto High School in Palo Alto, California where he led his basketball team to a 32-1 record to get the California Interscholastic Federation Division II state title. He was also named Player of the Year of the fist-team all state  and Norther California Division II.

During college, because there were no scholarship offers from his dream schools Stanford and UCLA, he then went on to Harvard and took up Degree in Economics. With his height of 6’3, Harvard coach Bill Holden see him fit for what he seeks in a player. And with what Lin showed in his games he became top priority for the coach. And true enough, Lin’s college basketball career was also a great one. Being picked as among the 12 most versatile players of college basketball, he also contributed in numerous record wins for Harvard’s basketball team.

LINsational NBA Stardom

Before LINsanity, LINcredible, LINsation and other words associated with LIN became viral, Jeremy Lin first came from a meager beginning after being un-drafted in the 2010 NBA draft. In July 2010 he became member of his hometown and childhood favorite NBA team Golden State Warriors. It was a 2 year contract, partially guaranteed for the 2010-2011 season. But on December 2011 after NBA lockout was over, he was waived by Warriors who were freeing up salary cap. Golden States’ waiver of Lin was claimed by Houston Rockets but it didn’t took long also. But the birth of his star came when he was claimed by New York Knicks as a restricted free agent.

With consecutive losses and eventual injuries of key players of the Knicks, coach D’Antoni taught of giving Lin a chance to play more. And during their winning game against the New Jersey Nets where Lin scored 25 points, 7 assists and 5 rebound, D’Antoni was impressed because of his point guard mentality. Thereafter in their next game, Lin for the first time experienced playing as first five and it signaled the start of his stardom.

Leading Knicks to a 6 game winning streak and scoring his all time highs, LINSANITY phenomenon was born. Media attention and fan followings became viral because of his noteworthy stature. Associated press even called him the most surprising NBA story being told. His #17 Jersey and shirts skyrocketed in sales prompting the Knicks to gave him the guaranteed purse. But with all the adulation and admiration from NBA fans, there are still some people who insecurely attacked Lin and his rose to stardom. American boxer Flloyd Mayweather said in a statement that raves for Lin has just something to do with him being an Asian. But that’s not surprising because up until now he cannot accept the superiority of another Asian sports superstar Manny Pacquiao. Some articles also from ESPN somehow showed racial slur towards Lin and hid origin.

But in all this Linsanity craze what’s notable about Jeremy Lin is his attitude towards it. He seemed very humble and meek despite his new found stardom. He’s very grounded during his many interviews which maybe comes from his being spiritual.

Linsanity has really made a mark in NBA’s history. And it’s his patience and determination that led him to it. He didn’t loose hope from the time he was un-drafted, but he stayed focus and faithful and continued to work on his skills to become better. And now that he found his way to NBA’s centerstage, basketball will be treated to a new kind of sporting idol noteworthy of recognition not only because of his ethnic origin but because of his skills and contribution to his team.

The final score of the finalist were taken from 2 cooking challenges. The first challenge was done before the finals night, where the final four were tasked to cook a dish within the limited budget of 300 pesos. Their dishes were judged by Juday and the 4 resident chefs together with 100 guests from different walks of life and the scores from that challenge were added to the live-cook off challenge.

The second and final challenge on the other hand was done during today’s live cook-off. The kids were tasked to cook their dream dishes within the limited time of 30 minutes. At the end of the allotted time, the judges then scored the final four’s last master dishes. And after the scores were tallied, the judges announced Jobim Jalbuena as the 4th placer with the average score of 73.4 pts thus getting 250,000php in cash and 500,000php worth of culinary scholarship from Treston International College. The 3rd place with the score of 84 points was given to Mika Tanaka who won the same cash prize and scholarship like Jobim. Phillip Amarillo of Cebu (who I’m rooting to win) scored 91.1 points got the 2nd prize of 500,000php cash and 1.5 million pesos culinary scholarship also from Treston College. And with the score of 91.8 points Kyle Imao of Marikina was proclaimed the 1st ever Pinoy Junior Master Chef Grand Winner. He won for himself 1 million pesos in cash and 1.5 million worth of scholarship from Treston College.

It was really nice to see this kids fulfilling their dreams. That despite their young age they already know what they love to do and what they want to pursue in life. Congratulations to the show’s staffs, hosts and especially to all the kids who have participated in making the 1st ever Junior Master Chef Pinoy Edition a resounding success.

Earlier today in National Bookstore Megamall what I didn’t got in Galleria and Trinoma I finally got in there. It was another fun day not only because I got my book signed but also at last I was able to meet the people behind the book and the revered radio morning show The Morning Rush. Del was really so beautiful and I think she’s getting more beautiful as she age (am not saying she’s old ah). While Chico on the other hand is still funny as always. It only took almost an hour until my book was signed, good thing I came early this time that’s why I got the first batch of numbers.

Patience and determination really pays off. If you didn’t get what you want in the first try there will always be second, third or even fourth time for us to accomplished a thing that we really love to do. We just need to remain optimistic and positive that in time we will eventually have the thing that we long to have.

The prosecution presented a witness from the FASAP Mr. Roberto Anduiza, who testified regarding the “flip-flopping” issue of the Supreme Court concerning their case against the Philippine Airlines (PAL). He said the Chief Justice influenced the decision resulting to the reversal of the previous decisions being made by the SC. Meanwhile the Defense postponed its cross examination saying they still need time to study the documents with regards to Anduiza’s testimony to which the prosecution objects but the presiding jusdge overruled the objection in favor of the defense.

But what’s more notable about day 13 is one of the public prosecutors and Ilocos Representative Rudy Fariñas’ comic relief during his response to senate president and presiding judge Juan Ponce Enrile’s question on the relevance of the SC’s financial records to the Article 3. Their exchange of opinions took a little while which became some sort of relief and light moments at the senate.

But the highlight of it was, when Sen. Jinggoy Estrada asked Fariñas if he signed the impeachemt complaint to which Fariñas answered no. Because according to him he wasn’t able to read the entire complaint as he was not a fast reader unlike his colleagues in the congress. And what’s really notable about Fariñas’ moment is his statement “medyo masama rin po kasi yung pagkagawa ng konti eh, hindi na ako pumirma” which ellicited laughter from the Senators and the gallery as well.

Some observers commented it was a blow to the prosecution because one of it’s prosecutors admitted that the complaint was not masterfully crafted. But the prosecution insisted that Fariñas only spoke of his observations and it doesn’t mean he dont believe in the complaint. They said what’s important is the substance and content which is strong enough to convict and strip Renato Corona of his post as Chief Justice of the land.

Seating in the witness stand that day was MegaWorld Senior Vice President for Marketing and Sales Noli Hernandez who seemingly transformed as a witness of the defense instead of the prosecution by the way he was asked. Several times that the counsel of the prosecution Atty. Joemar Perez was cautioned by the presiding judge because he’s gearing towards cross examining his witness instead of direct examination. To which found out later that they were not able to confer with Mr. Hernandez before he was presented. During his testimony Hernandez said that the 40% “Corona Discount” on the Bellagio condo unit was brought by the damage in the unit caused by a typhoon and not through any favor.

The trial adjourned it’s day 9 with only 1 witness being presented but noted also during that day is Sen. Villar who as a real state businessman stood and explained that indeed discounts can be possibly given to a buyer due to economic or any undue circumstances. The day also took long time with clarifications and questions from the Senator-Jurors who can’t seem to hide their irate on some topics which kept on repeating.

I hope prosecution will level up their strategy and be more diligent in acquiring and handling their witnesses and evidences because they might loose a good case just because they’re “too lazy” to study the case at hand.

Different faces of different ages flocked there to have their books signed (including me even if I failed to meet the cutoff number). But what’s memorable for me was meeting those people I only interacted on twitter then. Together with one of my braders XtianoRhoynaldo, the book launch became an opportunity to give moving faces to the names I often talk on twitter. It was a nice day meeting twitter pals such us jrhyan, kitrich, cut3rw1nst0n, rairaiwashere, yoursuperdan and the prinsesa krizzieenrile. But it became more fun when I got the authograph of the most famous and well know rusher “THE” Oscar dela Hopia.I may not have it signed by Chico and Del but at least I have THE ODH. hehe.

It was indeed a really fun afternoon. Seeing the closeness and bonding of the rusher group was inspiring and the energy that radiates from them was contagious. I can really say it was not only a FAN GROUP it was a FAMILY. Congrats to Chico and Del for a successful launch and congrats to all the Rushers, both SILENT and NOISY ohh I mean ACTIVE. The book will not be possible without the rushers, who keep on tweeting and sending sensible and funny statements. Keep the laugh alive, continue the morning rush. I am happy to be part of this big family.

Compared to the boring and full of pit stops trial last week, day 5 became alive and more interesting as Defensor-Santiago fired on prosecution panel who seemed not prepared in coming to the trial. The lady senator scolded lead prosecutor Niel Tupas Jr (just like a student being reprimanded by a teacher). for his inability to answer questions on how many witnesses and documents the prosecution intends to submit to the court. The senator went ballistic in his ‘lecture’ to the prosecution panel teaching them to be prepared all the time because the court should not be wasting time with things that can be addressed easily thru planning and proper handling of the case.

It was also during this day that the proceedings was cut short, again because of the failure of the prosecution to submit the legal memorandum regarding Article 2 of the impeachment complaint which was asked by the court after it’s adjournment last week. Contrary to the defense panel, which already submitted theirs early on that day, the failure of the prosecution to submit their copy, left the impeachment court with no choice but to suspend the hearing until the next day to wait for their legal memorandum.

It’s really a learning process for all of us. Since we are new to this kind of proceedings it’s understandable not to have perfect system. I like how presiding judge Senator Juan Ponce-Enrile handled the trial and I’m really impressed at how he conduct the whole proceedings. But I would like to say I am very very disappointed with the way the prosecution panel is acting. It’s very disgusting to the point I want to side with the defense. They should address their problems of incompetence and ill-preparedness if they want to successfully convince the judges to vote for conviction. Nakakatuwang isipin na sa loob ng 3 taon ay naglalaman na sya ng siyamnapung iba’t-ibang kwento tungkol sa pulitika, mga tula, maikling kwento, photography at kung ano-ano pang bagay at kalokohan. Medyo dumami na rin ang nagbabasa sa kanya at medyo nakikilala na sya ng mga mambabasa.

Dahil nga kaarawan nya naisip ko ano kayang magandang gawin para sa kanyang kaarawan. Marami akong mga nababasa na pag birthday ng blog nila ay nagpapa-contest, so naisip ko, gawin ko rin kaya yun tutal formula din daw yun para tumaas ang readership. Kaso naisip ko rin marami nang gumagawa nun eh, magmumukha lang gaya-gaya puto maya si Nite Writer, tsaka wala pa rin naman akong pampremyo kaya wag na lang yun, baka sa 7th birthday nya pede na. hehe.

Kaya imbes na magpacontest naisip ko na…………wala na lang gawin. hahaha (kuripot). Wala rin naman akong maisip na ipapacontest eh, tapos sa laki ng budget ko baka candy lang ang maipapremyo kaya wag na lang muna. Pero di ako nagkukuripot ah, Frugal lang hahaha (palusot). Gusto ko kasi pag nagpacontest si Nite Writer yung medyo ok naman ang maibibigay nya na prizes, para naman walang masabi yung mga magtatangkang sumali hehe.

So dahil wala namang mangyayari, magpapasalamat nalang si Nite Writer sa lahat ng mga nakikibasa sa kanyang mga kwento at lathalain. Sa mga tao na napapadpad sa kanyang tahanan, Maraming Salamat, sana maghakot pa kayo ng mga bibisita. hehe. Sa mga tauhan, mga balita at mga pinagkunan ng balita, at sa mga larawan na naging bahagi ng kanyang 3 taon Maraming Maraming Salamat. Lahat kayo ay kabahagi na sa mga nagdaan at mga darating na taon ni Nite Writer.
