After 2 days of competition, China lead the countries with the most number of medals in this year’s London Olympics. China already got 8 medals in total which is composed of 5 golds, 2 silvers and 1 bronze. Shooter Yi Siling got the first gold for China in the women’s 10m Air Riffle event.
Following China in the medal tally is the Olympic favorite United States. USA collected 6 medals so far in the 2 days of the games in London. 2 of it are golds, 2 are silvers and 2 also are bronze. Italy came in third place with 5 total medals, 2 golds, 2 silvers and 1 bronze.

Meanwhile Team Philippines has yet to get into the medal tally as our athletes are not yet in the medal rounds of their competition. Filipino archers who were the first to compete among the Philippine delegates, made it to the KO round of the Women’s and Men’s Archery event. Rachelle Cabral who ranked 53rd after the 1st and second half of elimination rounds with the accumulated score of 627, will go against Russia’s Ina Stepanova of Russia on Tuesday July 31. Meanwhile, our male archer Mark Javier who scored 649 after the 1st and 2nd half of eliminations and ranked 55th, will compete with Brady Ellison of USA on Wednesday August 1.
Another Filipino athlete who is also scheduled to compete in the first round, is boxer Mark Barriga. He’s schedule to fight for the light flyweight category on Tuesday July 31 against Italy’s Manuel Cappai.
