The Fray Live In Manila: My solo concert

After quite sometime, I was able to watch again a concert. I can’t remember when was the last time I watch a live full concert so I was excited to be back in the concert scene. But what’s more exciting this time was the fact that it will be my first time to watch solo.

Yes, after being de-virginized in solitary movie watching in cinema via the Eugene Domingo starrer Babae sa Septic Tank, it was my time now to experience it with a concert and it was via The Fray Live in Manila concert.

The concert was held last Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Araneta Center Cubao, Quezon City. I am not a die hard fan of this band but I do like their sound and music so I decided to go on in spite of being in a solitary mode. The concert was front acted by Moonstar88 who sang (I think) 5 songs before The Fray got to start.

At the start they’ve greeted the audience with “Magandang gabi” which got the people cheering. They started the concert with upbeat songs which made the people up on their feet and singing along. For the long time I didn’t watched a concert I can really say watching them was worth it. They really have the right to be in the concert scene and the music industry. While other singers sounds good on cd, some didn’t sound good when it comes to live performances. But The Fray got it both; great sound in cds and more during thier live performance. Although the coliseum is not full packed, with the way they performed the cheers and shouts from the audience roared which matches that of a jam packed arena.

They performed some of their well known hits like Over my head, Never say never, You Found Me and How to Save a Life. People including me cannot help but sing-along with their songs as their lead vocalist Isaac Slade throws out the song to the crowd. The concert lasted for about 1 and 1/2 hours which they concluded with “Salamat Manila”. Towards the end after they’ve thanked the crowd and left the stage, people continuously cheered for more and they were gracious enough to came back to the stage to perform another song.

It was indeed a fun experience. My first time to watch a concert solo and it was worth it. The Fray experience will be listed in my memory as one of the worthy watched concert; My Solo Concert.
