Pope’s resignation highly tweeted

PopeBenedictXVIPope Benedict XVI announced today his decision to relinquish his post as the Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church which will be effective on the 28th of this month.

In his statement delivered to the members of consistory in Rome, the 85 year old Pope cited his old age and failing health as the reason for his stepping down. “After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry” he said.

This announcement astonished many people especially the Catholic netizens, evidenced by trending in the top spot of Twitter Philippines. Filipinos and different people from all over the world can’t helped but tweet their sentiments and opinions about the Pope’s resignation. Many were saddened by his decision, others are in disbelief why he had to do it and many also played as conspiracy theorists, giving different views on the real reason of his resignation.
