Pinoy talents topped WCOPA 2013

wcopa2013winnersPinoy Pride is shining bright and soaring high again.

In the recently concluded World Championship Of The Performing Arts held in Hollywood, California USA, the Philippine flag was raised to the highest level again as we dominate its 2013 Grand Championship.

Dubbed as the Olympics of the Performing Arts, WCOPA is an annual event showcasing different talents from all over the world. And for this year Filipino’s again proved that we are the nation to beat when it comes to talent competitions.

The Philippines bagged 2 of the highest awards in this year’s WCOPA. Beverly Caimen was named 2013 Senior Grand Champion Performer of the World and Aldeza Ianna Dela Torre won the 2013 Junior Grand Champion Performer of the World.

Caimen, a native of Batangas said she felt so blessed after being called as the Grand Performer of the World Champion. In an interview with AsianJournal she said “Sobrang dami naming magaling, speechless po ako nung natawag po ako”. Dela Torre on the other hand is very happy with the outcome of the contest. The 11 year-old Nueva Ecijano wowed the crowd with her performance giving her a roaring standing ovation. The 2 were also awarded Grand Champions in their respective categories, 2013 Jr. Vocalist of the World for Aldeza Dela Torre and 2013 Sr. Vocalist of the World for Beverly Caimen.

Aside from the 2, there are also other Filipinos who shined in WCOPA 2013. The Gollayan Sisters (who were also Grand Winner in It’s Showtime’s Bida Kapamilya) was named the 2013 Sr. Vocal Group of the World Grand Champions and 2013 Sr. Male Model of the World Grand Champion Award went also to another Pinoy, Reynaldo Gorospe. The Philippine delegation also get the 3rd place in National Director Awards for Most Entries Attending WCOPA. And we are 2nd place in the most numbers of winners with 27 following South Africa’s 41.

Undoubtedly, Philippines is really a country of music and songs. Every Filipino knows how to sing as proofed by great patronage on small and big KTV bars. And with so many world class Filipino singer/performers like Lea Salonga, Apl de Ap, Arnel Pineda et.al, it is really no surprise if we conquer WCOPA year after year.
