We’re moving closer to the FIBA World Cup dream.
The dream of FIBA World Cup ticket is definitely alive for the Philippine basketball team Gilas Pilipinas as they move on to the FIBA Asia 2013 Semi-final round. Today at the MOA Arena, Gilas trashed the Kazakhstan in their do or die Quarter finals game. Gilas was able to control the game all through out thus ending it with a huge margin of 30 points 88-58.
Philippines dominated the whole game from start to finish. They were able to sustain the game from 1st quarter up to the last not giving Kazakhstan a chance to close the gap. Gilas ended the 1st quarter with 17 points lead at 32-15. The succeeding quarters were the same as it all ended with Gilas on top.
1st quarter – 32-15
2nd quarter – 51-40
3rd quarter – 67-49
4th quarter – 88-58
Gilas board was led by Gary David who scored 21 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist. He is followed by Japhet Aguilar (who basketed some great shots of the night) with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 1 assist. Jayson Castro also contributed greatly with his 17 points, 1 rebound and 4 assists.
With this win, Gilas is now moving to the semi-finals and will be battling out with South Korea who ousted Qatar. Phillippines vs South Korea Semi finals match will be today (August 10, 2013) also at the MOA Arena 8:30 PM.
