“The Philippines has finally conquered the World”
After so many years of being elusive for the country, the Miss World crown has finally been conquered.
In today’s Miss World 2013 finals night held in Bali Indonesia and hosted by Filipina-Austrian Myleen Klass, Philippines’ bet Megan Lynne Young out-shined 126 beautiful ladies from around the world to get the most coveted title of Miss World. Young also made history with her win as the very 1st Filipina to be crowned as Miss World since we started sending candidates in 1966.
Megan now leads past Pinay Miss World beauty queens who also did good shots for the title which includes Evangeline Pascual (1st runner up 1974), Gwendoline Ruais (1st runner-up 2011), Ruffa Guttierez (2nd runner-up 1993), Carla Bautista (4nd runner-up 2004), Mafae Yunon (4rd runner-up 2003) and Semi-finalists Cara Subijano, Carlene Aguilar, Katherine Manalo, and Quennerich Rehaman among others.
Before this evening’s win, the 23 year-old Kapamilya actress and host Megan Young was already an early favorite for the crown based on different pageant site predictions. She also made it on top and won several Miss World challenge rounds. She was top 5 in the Beach Fashion Challenge, 4th in the Multimedia Challenge and the Winner in the Top Model Challenge.
And after the most important question and answer segment wherein the candidates where asked “Why should you be the Miss World 2013?”, to which Megan aswered, “I treasure a core value of humanity and that guides people why they act the way they do. I will use this to show other people how they can understand each other. …as one, we can help society”, the judges have decided. And through Mrs. Julia Morley the winners were announced as follows.
2nd runner-up – Ghana
1st runner-up – France
Miss World 2013 – Philippines
It was indeed a glorious moment for Megan and the Philippines because finally after a very long time the country have completed the crown of the 3 major pageants Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss International.
