“Filipino talent and production at its best”
In its final showdown tonight, Voice of the Philippines has crowned Mitoy as their 1st ever Voice of the Philippines Grand Winner getting most votes from the viewers.
It was one of the most (if not the most) intense, fully energized evening in the history of Philippine Television. For more than 3 months of competition, the Voice of the Philippines has finally come to its final show.
Staged at the New World Performing arts theater in Resorts World Manila, the Voice PH Final showdown showcased world class Pinoy talents from the contestants to the coaches and the guest performers. Hosted by “The Host of the Philippines” Toni Gonzaga with Robi Domingo and Alex Gonzaga which added flavor to the show, Voice PH is by far the best reality talent show ever produced in Philippine TV.
The show was opened by the ensemble of the Voice PH Finalists with world class performers Arnel Pineda and Jed Madela. It was a “wow” opening number showcasing the best of Filipino talents. The production staff are very good in setting that stage on fire. It was then followed by the team performances of the 4 finalists; Sarah and Klarisse with Robert Sena, Bamboo and Myk, Apl de Ap and Janice with Ms. Lolita Carbon, and Lea and Mitoy with Vice Ganda. While Team Lea had an entertaining production number, I think Apl and Janice with Ms. Lolita Carbon was the most notable performance of that night among the 4 teams. Loved how Lolita, Janice and Apl brought down the house with their energetic party party theme which looked like they were not on the competition stage.
True to its world class appeal, another international artist (after Patty Austin) graced The Voice of the Philippines finale. Shane Filan of the Irish boyband Westlife sang with 4 finalists singing 2 of the most famous Westlife songs. The 4 coaches also did an inspirational number offered to what’s happening in the southern part of the country. They did Michael Jackson’s classic Man in the Mirror.
After closing the voting lines, the Top 2 were revealed. Mitoy of Team Lea and Klarisse of Team Sarah got the top 2 highest votes eliminating Team Apl’s Janice which got 13.56% and Team Bamboo’s Myk at 12.81%. The top 2 performed again for the last time with voting opening again, resetting previous scores to zero. Klarisse performed Leo Valdez’ classic Magsimula Ka while Mitoy did a powerful rendition of Beatle’s Help.
With just several minutes of voting period, the 1st Voice of the Philippines Grand Winner was announced and it was Mitoy Yonting of Team Lea. Mitoy got an average of 57.65% votes besting Klarisse’s 42.35%. A teary eyed Mitoy was immediately greeted by his family on stage while singing his final winning song.
It was a great 1st season for the Voice PH. Congrats to its production staff for coming up with a show that is really world class. From the coaches to the contestants, it definitely showed the finest and the best of Filipino talents we have and could be proud of.
