Miriam recovering from cancer, considers running for President

Almost 2 months after announcing she has cancer,Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago is now on her way to recovery.

In a statement issued to media, the lady Senator said the tumor found on her left lung have gotten smaller or has “regressed” according to the medical report issued by her doctors in St. Lukes Medical Center Bonifacio Global City August 12.

“The latest lab test shows that the cancer cells are waving a white flag. During this time, I only have to work on my stamina. During the six-week period of treatment, I was even able to work on the 2014 editions of some 10 law books which are scheduled for release by the end of the year,” she said.

With this development, Miriam again hinted on the possibility of running for President in 2016 after constitutionalist Fr. Joaquin Bernas implied support for her Presidential bid in a television interview. She also said that former Senator Manny Villar went to her house to says she has very high popularity level.

“I have licked cancer, and I’m actually thinking of several career options. By 2016, I will be disqualified by law to seek another term as senator,” she said.
