Declaration of Martial Law is September 23 not September 21

neveragain

According to an article posted on the Official Gazette of Malacanang, the real date of Martial Law Declaration is September 23 and not September 21.

In a tweet posted Sunday, September 21, 2014, @govph gave the link to the article detailing why Martial Law should be commemorated on September 23 and not 21. Contrary to what we all know, the September 21, 1972 declaration of martial law is just a ploy of Marcos due to his adherence to numerology.

Based on the article, Marcos believes on his lucky number seven, thus setting Proclamation 1081 on a date divisible by seven and that is why September 21, 1972 became the official date when Martial Law is established and Marcos dictatorship began.

Other facts that support September 23 as the official martial law declaration date is the final privilege speech of then Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. which was done on September 21, 1972. If martial law was already enforced on September 21, Ninoy won’t be able to deliver his speech. Another one is the report by the New York Times stating on their September 24, 1972 article that Marcos has declared Martial Law a day before (which is September 23).

Whatever the real date of martial law declaration is, let us not forget the horror that it brought to our country. May it be September 21 or September 23, let’s be reminded that our democracy should be safeguarded at all time and that NEVER AGAIN should martial rule or any idea of dictatorship be brought to our midst again.
