China leads medal standings in 17th Asian Games


China continues to dominate the 17th Asian Games in Incheon leading all countries in the medal standings.

As of Wednesday September 24, China already gathered a total of 97 medals, 49 of which are gold, 25 silvers and 23 bronzes. Chinese women athletes seemed to excel far better than their men teammates as they haul-in 31 golds, 13 silvers and 12 bronzes for a total of 56 compared to men’s 18 golds, 12 silvers and 11 bronzes.

Meanwhile, host country Korea is following in second place with their 69 medals (24 golds, 23 silvers and 22 bronzes). Korea leads the Mixed division with 3 medals, 2 golds and 1 silvers. Only 4 countries as of today have gathered medals in the mixed division, South Korea, Japan (1 silver), Chinese Taipei (1 bronze) and Indonesia (1 bronze).

The Philippine team on the other hand currently has 3 medals, 2 silvers and 1 bronze courtesy of the Wushu team. The Philippines ranked 18th in medal standing and 17th in rank by total number of medals.
