PH bags first gold medal in Asian Games 2014

After 12 days of competition, the Philippine team finally bags its 1st Asian Games 2014 Gold medal after winning in Men’s BMX event Wednesday October 1.

London 2012 Olympian Daniel Caluag finished 1st in Men’s BMX event to win for the Philippines its 1st Gold in the Incheon Asiad. Caluag finishes his 1st hit with the time of 35.277 seconds, then followed it up with 35.366 seconds in the 2nd hit and closing the final it at 35.431 seconds. Japan’s Masahiro Sampei got the silver medal and China’s Yan Zhu got the bronze.

With this win, the Philippines now has a total of 8 medals, 1 gold, 2 silvers and 5 bronzes to rank 21st in the Gold medal tally and ranked 19th in the Overall Medal Standing.

China still leads the medal standings with a total of 278 medals (128 golds, 83 silvers and 67 bronzes). Host country South Korea followed in 2nd place with 175 medals, 54 of which are gold, 58 are silvers and 63 bronzes. And Japan on 3rd with 149 medals (38 golds, 55 silvers, 56 bronzes).
