“The Buzz no more”.
After 16 years on air, ABS-CBN showbiz oriented talk show The Buzz bids farewell.
In it’s April 6, 2015 episode, The Buzz host Boy Abunda confirms that the show will go off air temporarily to bring the needed change in showbiz news reporting.
An obvious emotional Abunda said part of him died yesterday as the show has been his ticket to success. Boy Abunda emerged as a leading showbiz talkshow host in GMA 7’s “Startalk” but his stint in “The Buzz” made him a household name which opens the door to more opportunities in other shows and endorsements.
“Hindi po ako magkukunwari na okay ako. Hindi po ako magkukunwari na hindi ako nasasaktan. Hindi ako magkukunwari na I am not hurting, that I am not bleeding inside because I am. It’s very painful dahil naging karelasyon po namin kayo for 16 years… we’ve been together for a long time. Pero yung decision po na mawala muna pansamantala sa ere ang ‘The Buzz’ ay isang decision na kailangan at tama,” said Abunda.
While The Buzz will be taking a break from Philippine TV, Abunda is also quick to note that the show will be back and it will be back strong as ever. He said the show will definitely return because showbiz talkshow and the talkshow genre will never die and is here to stay.
“We will come back individually or as group—hindi ko po alam. But the showbiz news talk show genre is not going to die. It’s going to continue. Yun po ang dahilan kung bakit napagkaisahan naming lahat that the best way is to stop today. And then come back strong and be the best of what we can be,” – Boy Abunda
