Sen. Grace Poe leads 2 Presidential surveys

After trailing Vice President Jejomar Binay in the previous surveys, neophyte Senator Grace Poe-Llamanzares now overtakes the VP in the latest surveys conducted by Pulse Asia and Social Weather Station (SWS).

In the May 30 -June 5,2015 survey by the Pulse Asia, Sen. Grace Poe garners 30% of votes from the respondents should the election be conducted in this period. a 101% increase from her previous score of 14% in the March survey. She also beats Binay and the other considered Presidentiables in all economic classes (ABC and D at 31%) expect class E where Binay retains a 1-point lead, 25%-26%. In geo-political locations, Poe also takes the lead in NCR at 32%, Balanced Luzon at 36% and Visayas at 30% but Mindanao goes to Mayor Rody Duterte at 37%. This is the 1st time that Sen. Poe beats Binay in all presidential surveys, and with that 8-point lead, Binay must be really more “running scared” as the elections gets nearer.

On the other hand, in the SWS survey conducted in June 5-8, 2015, Poe also edges Binay 42%-34%. Just like in the Pulse Asia survey, Poe also leads Binay by 8 percentage points in this latest SWS Presidential poll survey. Grace Poe’s current number is up by 35% from her previous 31% preference score in the March survey.

While she now takes the top stop in the latest surveys, Sen. Grace is still undecided whether she will run for the presidency or not. In a statement she thanked the people for the trust and support but still no categorical statement about her plans for 2016.

“Buong mapagkumbaba akong nagpapasalamat sa patuloy na tiwala ng ating mga kababayan. Kasama naman kasi nila ako sa paghahangad na magkaroon tayong lahat ng pantay-pantay na oportunidad,” she said.

Meanwhile, not only Sen. Poe registered an increase in their survey number, LP’s perceived standard bearer SILG Mar Roxas also went up by 150% in Pulse Asia getting 10% points from his previous 4% and 21% against his previous 15% in SWS. Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte also went up by 3% in Pulse Asiat at 15% from previous 12% and 5% points in SWS at 20% from his previous 15%.

With this surge in her survey numbers, will it finally convince Sen. Poe to seek Malacañang? Or will she stick to her early pronouncements that she will not go to a battle that she know she is not prepared for?
