Malacañang on Monday July 6, declares Friday July 17, 2015 as a Regular Non-Working Holiday throughout the country in the observance of the Muslim feast of Eid’l Fitr or the Feast of Ramadhan.
In Proclamation No. 1070 signed by President Benigno S. Aquino III, the Office of the President declared July 17 as a regular holiday to give opportunity to all Filipino to join our Muslim brothers and sisters in celebrating the holy Feast of Ramadhan or Eid’l Fitr.
It adds, the declaration of holiday on July 17 is necessary to bring religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to our national consciousness.
Under Republic Act 9177, Eid’l Fitr should be declared regular non-working holiday throughout the country. The Office of the Muslim Affairs will be the agency responsible in determining the exact date when Eid’l Fitr will fall. Eid’l Fitr is celebrated by Muslims for three (3) days after the end of the month of fasting.
