Three days after being endorsed by the President to be the admin’s bet for the 2016 Presidential Election, Sec. Mar Roxas tenders his resignation as head of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Monday August 3, 2015.
In his resignation letter submitted to the Office of the President Monday, Sec. Roxas thanked the President for the opportunity to be part of his cabinet. He also thanked PNoy for giving him the trust and confidence in handling important departments in his government. And for allowing him to be part of his program of good governance, the “Daang Matuwid”.
While it is expected that Roxas will immediately resign from DILG after accepting the President’s endorsement, earlier report says the President is not yet keen on letting go of Roxas. But Roxas is all set to focus in his campaign thus submitting his resignation letter today. But as of writing, Malacañang has yet to act on his resignation letter.
Before submitting his resignation letter, Roxas also attended his last flag raising ceremony with the PNP officers in Camp Crame. Emotional Roxas wasn’t able to contain his tears as he bids goodbye to the men and women he worked for more than 2 years. He was also touched when he remembered the memories of his predecessor Sec. Jesse Robredo and the SAF 44 who were killed in an operation in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
Roxas replacement in DILG has yet to be named but media sources said it is possible that Rep. Senen Sarmiento will succeed Roxas in the DILG post.
