Gilas shatters India, takes top spot of Group E

In high spirit after their great win against Iran on Monday, the Philippine Basketball Team Gilas Pilipinas continued their winning streak after shattering India 99-65 in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship in Hunan, China.

In their last game on the second round of the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship Tuesday September 29, 2015, Gilas managed to control the ball game and extinguish India with a 34-point lead.

Terrence Romeo again blazed the game contributing 20 points with 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals to lead the Gilas to their fourth win in the tournament. Romeo also got help from naturalized Filipino Andray Blatche and Ranidel de Ocampo who basketed 15 points with 3 rebounds and 13 points with 3 rebounds respectively. Jason Castro, the hero against Iran meanwhile shared 12 points with 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

Same with the game versus Iran, Gilas also started cold in the 1st half of the game. But come 3rd quarter, it was all blown out for the Philippine Team as Gilas players managed to pull away against India. The team didn’t let India to stage a comeback and solidify their lead to come out winners of the game.

With their latest win against Indian, Gilas now settles on top of the Group E followed by Iran on second, Japan on third, India on fourth, Palestine in 5th place and Hongkong on the 6th and last spot.

Gilas will now have to face Lebanon in the quarterfinals scheduled on Thursday October 1.
