Malacañang on Tuesday September 6, 2016 has announced September 12, 2016 (Monday) as a regular non-working holiday throughout the country.
The declaration was issued under Proclamation no. 56 signed by the President through Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea on Monday September 5, 2016..
Eid’l Adha is one of the 2 greatest Muslim feasts celebrated by our muslim brothers and sisters as is declared as a regular national holiday in the country under Republic Act no. 9849.
The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) is in charge in recommending the exact date when Eid’l Adha will fall. And for this year NCMF recommended September 12
In view of the proclamation, employees who will report and required to report to work on this day will be given 100% additional premium on their salary.
PROCLAMATION NO. 56
DECLARING MONDAY, 12 SEPTEMBER 2016, AS A REGULAR HOLIDAY THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY IN OBSRVANCE OF EID’L ADHA (FEAST OF SACRIFICE)
WHEREAS, Eid’l Adha is one of the two greatest feasts of Islam;
WHEREAS, Republic Act no. 9849 provides that Eid’l Adha shall be celebrated as a regular holiday;
WHEREAS, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has recommended that the observance of Eid’l Adha be on 12 September 2016;
NOW, THEREFORE, I RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday, 12 September 2016, as a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Adha (Feast of Sacrifice).
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
