Crown or country?

That was the feisty question of Bb. Pilipinas International 2017  Mariel De Leon to her followers on Twitter.

Recently crown Bb. Pilipinas International 2017 Maria Angelica “Mariel” De Leon took to Twitter to share her opinion about what’s currently happening in society and politics.Apparently latest Duterte appointment did not sit well with the beautiful Binibini.

In her tweet, the beauty queen shared disgust regarding the appointment of prime Du30 supporter Margaux “Mocha” Uson to the Presidential Communications Operations Office.

De Leon retweeting Philstar’s photo on Uson’s appointment paper tweeted “What is happening Philippines”.

The country’s representative to the 2017 Miss International pageant also subtly takes jab at Uson saying fake and biased news are responsible in bringing down our country deeper.

She also shared how grateful she is for winning in Bb. Pilipinas because now she had the platform to voice out her opinions in the hope of effecting change in this country.

The beauty queen also added how some people cautioned or advised her not to touch political issues because it may cause her crown. But the brave De Leon said “It’s always Country over Crown.”

Those brave statements were lauded by netizens saying she indeed deserved the crown for having not only beauty and brains but the angst to defy popular beliefs or prevailing sentiments of the majority. And with her brave stance, Mariel proved beauty pageants are and will remain relevant to this world and the society.
