Malacañang declares June 26, 2017 regular holiday for Eid’l Fitr

The Malacañang Palace on Friday,June 16, 2017 has declared Monday,June 26, 2017 as a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of the end of the fasting month of Ramadan or Eid’l Fitr.

Issued under Proclamation No. 235, the declaration of June 26 as a national holiday was recommended by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos to give every Filipino the opportunity to celebrate with our brother and sister muslims their observance of the end of Ramadan.

The declaration is also necessary to bring religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness according to the proclamation.

Eid’l Fitr has been traditionally declared as national holiday in the past years to show cooperation and brotherhood with the Muslim
Filipinos.
