South Korea moves up to #3 in London Olympics Medal Tally

After 6 days of competition in the London Olympics 2012, South Korea now edges France in the medal ranking. The #3 spot which was previously owned by France is now being occupied by South Korea.

South Korea now has the total of 7 golds, 2 silvers and 4 bronzes while France got 6 golds, 3 silvers and 6 bronzes. The host country Great Britain follows at the #5 spot with 4 golds, 6 silvers and 4 bronzes.

Mark Barriga win big, fuels Philippines hope for an Olympic Medal

Philippines’ hope for an Olympic medal is still alive as Mark Anthony Barriga won over his Italian opponent Manuel Cappai in the 1st round of boxing in the London Olympics 2012.

The 19 year old Barriga, who is the lone boxer in the Philippine contingent for this year’s Olympic games, defeated Cappai with the score of 17-7 in the light flyweight event. With this win he secured a slot in the next round of boxing with is the Round of 16.

London Olympics 2012 Officially Open

This year’s edition of the quadrennial games, opened in a star-studded and extravagant opening ceremony in London. The London Olympics 2012 opening ceremony showcased Britain’s richness in literature, music and film. Some notable British artists who graced the opening ceremony were Daniel Craig, Rowan Atkinson, JK Rowling and David Beckham who carried the Olympic flame.

Philippine Team All Set for the London Olympics 2012

After the arrival of BMX rider Daniel Caluag in London, the 11-man Philippine Team for this year’s London Olympics has now been completed. Aside from Caluag, other athletes that composed the Philippine Team are Jasmine Paler Alkhaldi and Jessie Khing Lacuna for swimming, Mark Anthony Barriga for Boxing, Rene Herrera and Marestella Torres for Athletics, Tomohiko Hoshina for Judo, Paul Brian Rosario for Skeet Shooting, Hidilyn Diaz for Weightlifting, Rachelle Anne Cabral and Mark Javier for Archery.
